Private Client

Wedding & Reception

Brief

To produce a large, central London wedding and reception. The reception venue was to be no further than 10 minutes drive from the church near Spitalfields, with capacity for 500 guests sit down and licensed until at least 02.30. It also had to be designed in such a way as to reflect the client’s tastes and to retain a sense of warmth and intimacy.

Response

Massive responded to the brief by finding one of the very few central London spaces where we could erect a series of large marquees and continue with the party without restrictions until 03.00. The beautiful, private and secluded gardens over look the Thames and are tucked away between Fleet Street and The Embankment.

Guests were collected from the church in 130 unbranded black cabs and dropped at the gates to the garden. Guests walked down the garden steps to the reception. This was a contemporary yet classic space with crystal chandeliers hanging over a central flower filled pond. 3.5m tall antique mirrored double doors revealed the dining area – a contrasting space filled with 5m tall real trees dressed with autumnal leaves and masses of hanging candles and crystals.

Guests were seated banquet style on long tables and served a seasonal British three course dinner. After dinner Jools Holland & his big band performed on stage. Following the band, guests were invited up a dramatic tunnel to the separate raised, terraced nightclub overlooking the Thames. A sleek, contemporary design with sunken dance floor surrounded by LED walls and lounge seating, created a totally different ambience for guests to continue the celebration.

Due to time constraints only 6 days were available to build in excess of 26,00 sq ft of marquees and a very high level of production. Our team overcame this huge logistical and technical challenge ahead of schedule and without a hitch.
